Officials: Data center deal could net billions for Taylor area
Developers proposed a massive $1.38 billion data center project in Williamson County promising significant local tax revenue and commercial economic expansion for the Taylor area. Facing city negotiations for the development, city leaders negotiated a revised agreement with developers Big Watt Digital and PowerHouse to address key environmental and community infrastructure standards. The finalized agreement mandates a 700-foot property setback with visual screening along FM 112, caps operational noise at 65 decibels, requires a closed-loop water system, and obligates the developers to directly fund local municipal wastewater system upgrades. The landmark agreement paves the way for major long-term economic development while protecting local utility resources.
