There's been plenty of talk about AI eliminating jobs, but much of the effect so far has been to make even more valuable those employees who are learning to integrate AI into their job routines.

And a hiring expert for Unity Search, David Cathey, says it's going to be some time before AI and robots can begin doing expert work in plumbing, electrical work, concrete pouring, HVAC, and other physical jobs.

"Over the past two years, even here in Texas, we've already seen a five-percent increase in the hour rates for people who are in the skilled trades," Cathey notes.

"And that demand is going to continue to skyrocket with the building, planning, and expansion of data centers."

Over the next five years, an expansion of building activities of all kinds is expected, and "it's going to create a more physical economy of jobs, including electricians, drywall specialists and lots of others."
